If you’re trying to figure out what to wear to Lollapalooza, I’ve been there.
I spent way too long the first time I went convincing myself a sequin two-piece was a good idea. It was not. It was 93 degrees and I wanted to die by noon.
So here are 30+ Lollapalooza outfit ideas I’d actually pack — stuff that looks good in photos but won’t make you miserable by hour four.
Whether you’re figuring out what to wear to Lollapalooza for the first time or just need fresh inspo, there’s something here for every vibe.

Before You Start Planning
This is not Coachella. The vibe is genuinely different and it changes what kind of festival outfits actually make sense.
Grant Park is in the middle of Chicago. July means humid, hot, and a real chance of a thunderstorm rolling in out of nowhere. Not a drizzle — actual rain. I’ve been caught in it. It’s not cute.
Also — clear bag policy at the main stages. Small bags only. Plan around it.
Boho & Free-Spirited Lollapalooza Outfits

top | shorts
sunglasses | necklace | bracelet | belt
bag | shoes
The classic Lollapalooza festival aesthetic works for a reason. Flowy fabrics, earth tones, layered jewelry — it photographs well, stays comfortable in the heat, and just feels right for four days outside.

Cool Girl Casual Lollapalooza Outfits

tank top | jorts
sunglasses | necklace | earrings
bag | shoes
Honestly my personal category when it comes to Lollapalooza outfit ideas. The looks that seem effortless but actually have really good bones.
I always gravitate toward this when I don’t want to think too hard but still want to look like I did.

Y2K & Retro Lollapalooza Outfits

halter top | denim shorts
sunglasses | necklace | belt
bag | shoes
Lolla is genuinely one of the best places to lean into Y2K festival style. Everyone’s doing something a little extra and no one’s going to look at you weird for wearing a rhinestone top at 3pm.
Go there.

Elevated & Chic Lollapalooza Outfits

top | shorts
sunglasses | necklace | earrings

This category is tricky to pull off at a festival because there’s a thin line between “polished” and “why did you wear that here.”
But it exists, and when it works it really works. These are the looks that don’t scream festival but still make total sense for one.

Shoes & Accessories — The Real Talk
If there’s one thing that can completely ruin what to wear to Lollapalooza, it’s the wrong shoes. I say that having messed it up myself.
Boots look amazing. They also wreck your feet by hour six. Break them in for at least a week before you go — new boots on day one is genuinely a bad decision.
Sneakers are the safe bet. Chunky soles are trending and they’re actually more comfortable — more cushioning, more support for a full day on your feet. White sneakers go with everything but they will not stay white. Just accept it.
Flat sandals are fine if you’re okay with grass between your toes and the possibility of mud. Trail sandals are the practical upgrade — sporty enough to work with most looks on this list and actually designed for this kind of day.
For bags — clear bags are required at the main stage areas. A small clear bag plus a tiny fanny pack worn crossbody is the combo most people land on. It works.
And sunglasses. Grant Park is completely open. No shade. It is bright out there all day and you will feel it.
Practical Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me
Sunscreen. Reapply it. I know you know this. Set a phone alarm because you will forget.
Waterproof mascara only. Regular mascara doesn’t survive the heat, the humidity, and the rain. I learned this in a porta-potty mirror and it was not a good moment.
Bring a layer for the evening even if it feels unnecessary at noon. The temperature drops more than you’d expect once the sun goes down.
Dry shampoo. Pack it. By day two you’ll be very glad you did.
