Valentine’s Day parties always feel a little more fun when there’s something to break the ice—and honestly, games are the easiest way to do it without trying too hard.
I pulled together a bunch of Valentine’s Day party games that work for pretty much any crowd: couples, families, big groups, or just a mix of people who don’t know each other that well yet.
Some of these are light and sweet, some are a little chaotic in the best way, and a few are perfect for those moments when everyone wants to sit down and relax for a bit.
Hopefully you’ll spot a few that fit the vibe you’re going for this year.

Couples Party Games
If you’re hosting couples, you want games that break the ice without making people feel like they’re on a weird reality TV show.
1. Kiss or Catch Game
This is a classic for a reason. It creates this hilarious split-second dilemma: do you try to win, or do you “accidentally” fail so you get the prize?
How to Play
- Have the couple sit facing each other.
- A host holds a paper plate above their faces.
- The host gives a signal, then drops the plate.
- Both players try to catch it using only their faces (no hands).
- If they miss, they share a kiss; if they catch it, they score a point.
2. Balloon Up the Body Game
This one starts off looking easy and ends up with everyone in stitches. It’s basically a high-speed, no-hands wiggling match.
How to Play
- Each couple places a balloon between their bodies (no hands).
- Starting at the lower body, they work together to move the balloon upward.
- Only body movement is allowed—hands cannot touch the balloon.
- If the balloon drops, the couple starts over.
- The first couple to move the balloon all the way up wins.
3. Couple Forehead Ball Challenge
I’ve seen couples get surprisingly intense about this one. It’s all about coordination and trying not to laugh while looking your partner dead in the eye from two inches away.
How to Play
- The couple stands facing each other and places a small ball between their foreheads.
- A cup is placed at the finish point.
- Without using their hands, the couple walks together toward the cup.
- When they reach the finish, they carefully drop the ball into the cup.
- If the ball falls before reaching the cup, they return to the start and try again.
4. Cup of Balls
This is where things get physical! Since you aren’t allowed to use your hands at all, you and your partner have to figure out how to use your body’s momentum to pop that ball into the cup.
How to Play
- Each couple takes turns flipping a ball into their cup.
- Players may only use body movement—hands are not allowed.
- When a player makes three successful shots in a row, they switch with their partner.
- The new player continues from the same spot.
- The first couple to complete the challenge wins.
5. Candy Belt Speed Challenge
Forget everything you know about romantic dinners. This is a race to the finish line where your only tool is your appetite.
How to Play
- Each couple gets one sour candy belt.
- One person holds one end of the candy belt, and the other person holds the opposite end.
- Hands are not allowed at any time.
- On “go,” both players eat from their ends at the same time.
- The first couple to finish the entire candy belt wins.
6. No-Hands Underwear Challenge
If you want to see who’s actually the most athletic person in the room, this is the one. You’ll be surprised how much of a workout it is to pull on a pair of boxers using nothing but wiggles, hops, and pure determination.
How to Play
- Each couple puts on their own underwear.
- Hands are not allowed at any point.
- Players may only use body movement to pull the underwear on.
- The first couple to have both players finished wins.
7. Toilet Paper Relay (Couple Edition)
You have to stay perfectly in sync while one of you remains stationary and the other tries to “navigate” a pole into a toilet paper roll—without using a single hand.
How to Play
- One partner stands still holding a toilet paper roll between their thighs.
- The other partner places a pole or stick between their legs.
- Hands are not allowed at any time.
- On “go,” the partner with the pole walks toward the stationary partner.
- Using only body movement, the moving partner guides the pole into the toilet paper roll.
Family Valentine’s Day Games
If you’ve got kids involved or just want something chill for the living room, these are perfect.
8. Valentine’s Dice Game
This is the ultimate game for anyone who loves a good mystery prize. Instead of just picking a gift, you’re at the mercy of the big pink dice!
How to Play
- Place a large pink dice in the center of the table.
- Players take turns rolling the dice.
- When a number is rolled, the gift with the matching number is selected.
9. Heart Target Cup Slide
Precision is everything here. It’s a nail-biter of a game because one tiny nudge too hard and you’re out, but a soft, steady glide makes you the hero of the round.
How to Play
- Place a heart-shaped target area at one end of the table.
- Give each player a plastic cup.
- Players stand at the opposite end of the table.
- On “go,” players slide their cup across the table toward the heart target.
- The cup must stop completely inside the heart shape.
10. Cup Knockdown Challenge
You’re basically trying to turn your hands into a blur as you sweep every single cup off the table’s edge in a race against your opponent.
The sound of plastic hitting the floor like rain is incredibly satisfying, and you’ll find that being “neat” is your worst enemy when the only goal is to clear that table in record time.
How to Play
- Line up plastic cups along the edge of a table.
- Players stand in front of the cups.
- On “go,” players knock the cups off the table one by one using only their hands.
- Cups must be knocked off individually.
- The player who knocks down all their cups first wins.
11. Ping Pong Prize Toss
There’s a reason this classic never gets old—it turns your dining room into a high-stakes carnival. Seeing the prize you want sitting right next to its designated cup makes every toss feel incredibly personal.
How to Play
- Line up cups filled with water on a table and place a prize next to each cup.
- Players toss the ping pong balls toward the cups.
- If a ball lands in a cup, the player wins the prize next to that cup.
- Missed shots do not win a prize.
12. Spin the Arrow Game
I find this to be a great way to keep the energy moving without things getting too wild. It’s a luck-of-the-draw game where the arrow decides your fate.
How to Play
- Place a spinning arrow in the center of the table.
- Arrange gifts around the arrow, one gift per section or direction.
- Players take turns spinning the arrow.
- When the arrow stops, it points to one gift.
13. Roll for a Gift
This turns your living room into a high-stakes bowling alley where every prize has a “number” on its head.
The tension builds as you watch the ball roll slowly toward the row of cups—everyone holds their breath to see which numbered prize you’ll actually take home.
How to Play
- Hang or line up numbered cups at the end of the table.
- Players roll the ball toward the cups.
- When the ball lands in a cup, the player wins the gift with the matching number.
14. Drink Memory Match
I like this as a clever “brain-teaser” that turns everyone into a mini-detective.
It’s a great way to engage the problem-solvers in your family while everyone watches with bated breath to see if the puzzle has finally been unlocked.
How to Play
- Place 4–5 identical drink bottles inside a box so they cannot be seen.
- Arrange the same bottles on top of the box, but in a different order.
- On a turn, a player moves one bottle from the top row.
- The game ends when the visible row matches the hidden order exactly.
15. Pull & Win Gift Game
There is such a funny, quiet tension in the room as each player slowly tugs that paper toward them, praying the glass doesn’t tip or the paper doesn’t rip.
How to Play
- Lay a long strip of toilet paper across the table.
- Place a filled wine glass at one end of the toilet paper.
- Line up gifts next to the toilet paper at intervals.
- Players take turns gently pulling the toilet paper toward themselves.
- If the toilet paper tears or the water spills, the player wins the gift closest to the break point.
16. Conversation Hearts Match Game
These classic candies are perfect for a fast-paced treasure hunt! I like how it turns into a frantic race as everyone dives into their bags, desperately searching for that one specific color or phrase to complete their set.
How to Play
- Fill several paper bags with conversation heart candies.
- Each bag contains a mix of different colors or words.
- Players collect candies from the bags.
- The goal is to find four matching conversation hearts (same color or same word).
- The first player to collect four matching hearts wins.
Icebreaker Games for Mixed Groups
For those parties where not everyone knows each other yet, a few simple icebreakers can save the first ten minutes. Nothing intense—just ways to get people talking without putting anyone on the spot.
17. Poke a Prize
I’ve seen people use this as a “welcome station” at the front door. You cover plastic cups with tissue paper so guests can “poke” through to find a hidden prize or a funny conversation starter.
How to Play
- Place a small gift inside each paper cup.
- Cover the cups with thin wrapping paper so the prizes are hidden.
- Attach the covered cups to a board in a heart shape.
- Players take turns selecting a cup to win the prize inside.
18. Cupid’s Scoop Challenge
This is probably the funniest thing you’ll watch all night. Because petals are so light, you’ll see people triumphantly scooping nothing but air while everyone else tries to keep a straight face.
How to Play
- Spread pink or red petals evenly across the table.
- Give each player a basket and a spatula.
- Players wear a blindfold.
- On “go,” players scoop petals using only the spatula.
- When time is up, players stop scooping.
19. Heart Candy Stack Game
Your goal is to see who can build the tallest tower before the whole thing inevitably wobbles and crashes.
How to Play
- Give each player a pile of conversation heart candies.
- Players stack the candies one by one on a flat surface.
- If the stack falls, the player must start over.
- The tallest standing stack wins.
20. Alphabet Word Challenge
If you want to get the room buzzing, try this high-speed brain teaser. It’s hilarious to see the “panic” on people’s faces as they try to combine two difficult letters before anyone else.
How to Play
- One player says a letter out loud.
- The other player says a different letter.
- Both letters must be used.
- Players race to say a word that includes both letters.
- The first player to say a correct word wins the round.
21. Blind Drink Match
You’ll love how this mystery matching game draws everyone toward the kitchen island. We always feel a great sense of suspense right before the “reveal,” and you can count on the room erupting in cheers when someone finally makes a perfect match.
How to Play
- Line up several different drinks inside a box so players cannot see them.
- Arrange the same drinks on the table in a random order.
- A player picks one drink and places it above the spot they think matches the drink inside the box.
- If the match is correct, the player wins a prize.
- If the match is wrong, the turn ends.
- Continue with the next player.
22. Cash Slide Challenge
We’ve all seen the viral videos of this, and trust me, it’s just as fun in person. The tension in the room is real when a cup is slowly sliding toward the cash and everyone is shouting for it to stop.
How to Play
- Tape different amounts of cash flat on the surface of a table.
- Players stand at one end of the table with a plastic bottle.
- On their turn, a player slides the bottle across the table.
- The bottle must stop completely on top of a cash spot.
- If the bottle lands fully on a bill, the player wins that amount.
- If it lands off the cash or overlaps multiple bills, nothing is won.
- Continue taking turns until the cash is gone or the game ends.
By the way, if you’re skipping the couples’ stuff and doing a girls-only night this year, I wrote a separate post just for that.
You can check out my favorite Galentine’s Day Party Games here—they’re more low-pressure and perfect for a wine-and-pajamas kind of vibe.
Sit Down and Table Games for Chill Parties
Sometimes everyone just wants to sit, snack, and play something low-key. These table-friendly games are perfect for a quieter vibe or a home party where no one’s trying to run around.
23. Chopstick Heart Stack Challenge
I tried this last year and realized my hands aren’t nearly as steady as I thought. It’s the perfect mix of high focus and total frustration when the pile inevitably collapses.
How to Play
- Give each player a pile of conversation heart candies and one pair of chopsticks.
- Players may only use the chopsticks—hands are not allowed.
- Each player works to stack the heart candies as high as possible.
- Only one candy may be placed at a time.
- If the stack falls, the player must start over.
24. Dots and Triangles
You probably remember this one from boring school bus rides, but it’s a total classic for a reason.
How to Play
- Draw several dots on a sheet of paper.
- Players take turns.
- On a turn, a player draws up to three straight lines connecting dots.
- Lines must connect two dots and cannot cross existing lines.
- If a player completes a triangle, they claim it.
- The game continues until no more triangles can be made.
- The player with the most triangles wins.
25. Oven Mitt Kiss Challenge
Have you ever tried to unwrap a tiny Hershey’s Kiss while wearing massive, padded oven mitts? It’s basically impossible.
Watching your friends struggle to use their “paws” to get to the chocolate is hilarious, and you’ll be surprised how quickly a group of adults will start cheering for a single piece of candy.
How to Play
- Put a pile of Hershey’s Kisses in front of each player.
- Players put on oven mitts.
- On “go,” players unwrap the Kisses as fast as possible using only the mitts.
- Hands without mitts are not allowed.
26. Chopstick Kisses Transfer Challenge
If the stacking game was too easy for you, try moving slippery, foil-wrapped Kisses from one bowl to another using only chopsticks.
We usually set a 60-second timer, and it always turns into a frantic scramble as the chocolates start sliding all over the table like little silver pucks.
How to Play
- Place a bowl filled with Hershey’s Kisses in front of each player and an empty container nearby.
- Give each player a pair of chopsticks.
- Players transfer the Kisses one by one into the empty container.
- When time is up, players stop.
- The player who transfers the most Kisses wins.
27. Single-Stack Cup Challenge
You’ll be surprised by how much tension a simple pile of plastic cups can create! I love watching everyone’s faces go from focused to panicked as their towers start to wobble.
How to Play
- Give each player an equal number of plastic cups.
- Players begin stacking the cups into one single vertical stack.
- Only one cup may be placed at a time.
- The player with the tallest standing single stack wins.
28. Dots and Boxes
This is the ultimate “chill” game for when the snacks are out and no one wants to stand up.
How to Play
- Draw a grid of evenly spaced dots on a sheet of paper.
- Players take turns.
- On a turn, a player draws one straight line connecting two adjacent dots.
- Lines can be horizontal or vertical and cannot overlap existing lines.
- If a player completes a box, they claim it and take another turn.
- The game continues until all boxes are completed.
- The player with the most boxes wins.
29. Speed Cup Stack Challenge
I usually set this up as a head-to-head battle. The sound of plastic hitting the table gets everyone’s heart racing, and it’s a great way to inject some energy into a quiet afternoon.
How to Play
- Give each player an equal stack of plastic cups.
- On “go,” players begin stacking the cups as fast as possible.
- Cups must be stacked into the required formation.
- The first player to complete the stack wins.
Active and High Energy Games for Big Groups
When there are lots of people—and the room feels ready for something lively—these games bring the energy up fast. They’re easy to explain and even easier to jump into.
30. Balloon Stomp Game
I always tell people to clear the breakables before this one starts! This game is loud, fast, and basically turns your living room into a hilariously chaotic stampede of people jumping around.
How to Play
- Divide players into two teams.
- Tie one balloon to each player’s ankle.
- On “go,” players try to stomp and pop the other team’s balloons.
- Players must protect their own balloon while attacking others.
- A player is out when their balloon is popped.
- The team with the last balloons remaining wins.
31. Musical Chairs (Cup Version)
If you don’t have enough chairs for a big crowd, try using plastic cups on a table instead. When the music stops, you have to grab a cup to stay in—it’s much more compact but just as frantic when that last cup is sitting there waiting for someone to snag it.
How to Play
- Place plastic cups in a circle, one fewer cup than the number of players.
- Players walk around the circle while music plays.
- When the music stops, players quickly grab a cup.
- The player without a cup is out.
- Remove one cup from the circle.
- Start the music again and repeat.
- The last player remaining wins.
32. Balloon Cup Stack
I always tell my guests that this is much harder than it looks! You aren’t allowed to use your hands at all; instead, you have to use a balloon to grip and lift each cup.
How to Play
- Line up several empty cups on a table.
- Insert the mouth of a balloon into one cup and blow to lift it.
- While holding the air, move the cup and stack it over another.
- Deflate the balloon to set it down.
- Repeat until all cups are stacked; first team to finish wins.
33. Marshmallow Toss & Catch
We usually pair up for this and see who can catch the most marshmallows using only a plastic cup.
How to Play
- Two players form a team and stand on opposite sides of a table.
- One player holds a marshmallow.
- On “go,” that player tosses the marshmallow across the table.
- The other player tries to catch it using only a cup.
- Hands are not allowed to touch the marshmallow.
- Each successful catch counts as one point.
- The team with the most catches wins.
34. Tik Tac Toe
You can turn this classic brain game into a total cardio workout that leaves everyone gasping for air. The pressure really builds as you struggle to land that perfect flip while your teammates are screaming in the background.
How to Play
- Set up a 3×3 grid on a table.
- Flip cups.
- Only successful flips can be placed on the grid.
- First team to get three in a row wins.
35. Balloon Relay Race
I’ve seen people try to carry a balloon between their bodies while racing to a finish line.
If you drop it, you have to go back to the start—it makes everyone walk in the weirdest, most hilarious way just to keep that balloon in place.
How to Play
- Divide players into couples or teams of two.
- Each team places a balloon between their bodies (no hands).
- On “go,” teams move toward the finish line together.
- The balloon must stay between their bodies the entire time.
- The first team to reach the finish line successfully wins.
36. Head, Shoulders, Knees & Cup
This is a total test of your reaction time. You follow the commands as I shout “Head!” or “Knees!”, but the moment I yell “Cup!”, you have to be the first to grab the one on the floor between you and your opponent.
How to Play
- Place one cup on the table between two players.
- Players stand facing each other with their hands at their sides.
- A caller calls out body parts (head, shoulders, knees).
- Players touch the called body part as quickly as possible.
- When “cup” is called, players grab the cup.
- The first player to grab the cup wins the round.
37. Wobble Cup Challenge
You’ll never look at a pair of stockings the same way again after seeing your friends wearing them on their heads or waists to swing a ball around!
It’s impossible not to laugh when you see everyone doing these wild, rhythmic hip thrusts just to knock over a few plastic cups.
How to Play
- Place a small ball or ornament inside the stocking.
- Tie a stocking around each player’s waist.
- Line up a row of plastic cups on the floor.
- Hands are not allowed at any time.
- Players use only hip and body movement to swing the ball.
- The goal is to knock over or hit the cups using the ball.
- The first player to knock down all the cups wins.
38. Chopstick Cup Stack Relay
If you want to make a relay race twice as hard, make your guests move cups using only chopsticks.
Seeing a team try to coordinate their movements while holding slippery plastic with sticks is a guaranteed way to get the whole room laughing.
How to Play
- Line up several cups on a table.
- Using two chopsticks, lift one cup and place it over the next to stack them.
- Keep stacking the growing tower using only the chopsticks.
- The first player or team to complete their stack wins.
39. Straw Pass Game
You might remember this from old-school parties, but it still works every time. This delicate race forces you to hold your breath until a sudden burst of laughter sends the heart fluttering to the floor.
How to Play
- Players line up side by side.
- Each player is given a straw.
- A paper heart is placed on the first player’s straw.
- Using only suction through the straw, the player lifts the heart.
- The heart is passed to the next player without using hands.
- The next player repeats the process, passing it down the line.
- If the heart drops, it goes back to the start.
- The team that gets the heart to the end first wins.
40. Balloon Cup Blast
I love how this turns a simple party favor into a high-stakes race where your lungs are doing all the heavy lifting.
How to Play
- Line up plastic cups on each side of the table.
- Each player gets one balloon.
- On “go,” players inflate the balloon.
- Players release the air from the balloon to blow the cups over.
- Cups must be knocked over using air only.
- The first player to knock over all their cups wins.
41. Marshmallow Grab
Forget using your fingers—you have to slide plastic cups over your hands and try to scoop up as many marshmallows as you can.
It’s a lot harder than it sounds when you no longer have any grip, and you’ll find yourself clumsily chasing slippery treats all over the table.
How to Play
- Put small cups over your hands.
- Scatter marshmallows on the table.
- Players race to pick up as many marshmallows as possible within the time limit.
- Most marshmallows wins.
42. Ping Pong Blow Game
I love seeing how people’s faces transform as they try to delicately puff a ball from one water-filled cup to the next.
You’ll find yourself holding your breath and squinting as you try to find the perfect angle to make the ball hop without it flying off the table.
How to Play
- Line up cups filled with water in a straight row on the table.
- Place a ping pong ball in the first cup.
- Players blow the ball using only their breath.
- The ball must move from cup to cup in order.
- The first player to blow the ball into the final cup wins.
Fun and Silly Games Just for Laughs
Every Valentine’s party needs at least one game that turns into pure chaos in the funniest way. These are the “why was that so funny?” kind of moments people remember later.
43. No-Hands Flour Relay
I’ll be honest, watching a whole group of people trying to stay perfectly still while holding their breath is pure comedy.
How to Play
- Players line up in a row.
- Each player holds a playing card in their mouth.
- A pile of flour is placed in front of the first player.
- Hands are not allowed at any time.
- The first player scoops flour using the card and passes it to the next player.
- Each player transfers the flour the same way down the line.
- If a player breathes through their mouth, the flour may blow away.
- The team that transfers the most flour successfully wins.
44. Blindfold Pillow Fight
I love watching this because it’s harmless but looks totally ridiculous. The sight of two people “fighting” invisible enemies makes for the kind of hilarious memories that everyone will be talking about for the rest of the night.
How to Play
- Two players face each other and put on blindfolds.
- Each player holds a pillow.
- A caller gives movement cues (left, right, forward, back) for a few steps.
- When the caller says “hit,” both players swing their pillows once.
- If a player lands a hit, they win the round.
- If both miss, reset positions and continue.
- Play multiple rounds or until a set number of wins.
45. Don’t Blink Game
Sitting there in the quiet with your eyes squeezed shut, you can’t help but wonder if I’m already staring at you with a huge grin.
The real fun starts when you finally gather the courage to peek, only to find us locking eyes at the most perfectly awkward moment possible.
How to Play
- Two players sit facing each other.
- Both players close their eyes.
- Without any countdown, each player opens their eyes whenever they choose.
- If both players open their eyes at the same time and make eye contact, they lose the round.
- If the timing is different, the round continues.
46. Back-to-Back Drawing Game
We tried this recently, and the results were a disaster—in the best way. When you compare the original sketch to the final drawing at the end, it’s usually unrecognizable.
How to Play
- Players line up in a single row, facing the same direction.
- The last player places a sheet of paper on the back of the person in front of them.
- The last player draws a simple picture on the paper.
- The next player recreates the drawing on the back of the person in front using only touch.
- This continues down the line, one player at a time.
- The first player draws the final version on paper.
- Compare the original drawing to the final one.
47. Couple Wish Challenge
I think this is a sweet way to see what your partner is actually dreaming about. Each person calls out a secret wish or a “dream Valentine’s date” and tries to toss a pen into a container to make it come true.
How to Play
- The couple sits facing a container placed a short distance away.
- One partner says a wish out loud before throwing.
- That partner tosses a pen toward the container.
- If the pen lands inside, the wish must be granted.
- If the pen misses, nothing happens.
- Partners take turns tossing.
- Continue for a set number of rounds or wishes.
48. Sour Candy Belt Challenge
Watching your friends’ faces pucker up is the best part of this race. You have to eat an entire sour candy belt as fast as possible without using your hands.
How to Play
- Each player gets one sour candy belt.
- Players keep their hands behind their backs.
- On “go,” players start eating the candy belt.
- Hands are not allowed at any time.
- The entire candy belt must be eaten.
- The first player to finish wins.
49. Sock Wrestling
The mission is all about snatching both socks off your opponent’s feet before they can even touch yours.
This chaotic tumble of limbs usually leads to an impressive “I can’t believe I’m this quick” victory or a total laughing fit when you realize your socks were pulled off in the blink of an eye.
How to Play
- Two players sit or lie on the floor facing each other.
- Each player keeps their socks on at the start.
- On “go,” players try to remove the other person’s socks.
- Hands may be used, but no kicking or rough contact is allowed.
- A player wins when they remove both of their opponent’s socks first.
50. Alphabet Scavenger Hunt
The second a letter is called out, you’ll find yourself scanning the room like a hawk to grab anything that starts with that sound.
How to Play
- A letter is called out loud.
- On “go,” players search the room for an object that starts with that letter.
- Players may only bring back one object.
- The first player to return with a correct item wins the round.
- Call a new letter and repeat.
So that’s the little roundup of Valentine’s Day party games I ended up collecting.
There’s a mix of everything—easy icebreakers, silly laugh-out-loud moments, low-key table games, and even a few that actually get people moving.
Which ones feel right for your party? And is there one you’re already picturing everyone laughing over?
