Okay, so winter is supposed to be the quiet season for jewelry. Winter 2027 jewelry trends clearly didn’t get the memo.
Think about it, half the time your jewelry is buried.
Coat on, scarf wrapped twice, hair pulled back so it doesn’t get stuck in everything, and your necklace is just gone somewhere under all of it.
And designers went even bigger anyway, with more pearls, more brooches, and earrings you could spot from across the street. I kind of love that for us.
(If you want the backstory, I covered the fall side of this in my fall 2026 jewelry trends post.)
So I went through all of it and pulled out the ones that actually make sense when you’re bundled up, plus a couple that are really just for party season.
What’s the Vibe With Winter Jewelry
It’s all about one really good piece instead of a whole stack. That mood carried right over from fall, it just feels a little more polished now.
The other thing is how much old stuff is suddenly cool again.
Brooches, pearls, chunky rings with big colored stones, the kind of pieces that felt totally outdated a few years ago.
And earrings are pretty much the main character of winter.
1. Brooches
Brooches are back, and I’m weirdly excited about it.
I know, I know. The word alone sounds like a grandma’s church coat, and honestly, part of me still thinks that.
But the way people are wearing them now is much more playful, it’s less about the lapel and more about pinning one somewhere you wouldn’t expect.
Ralph Lauren pinned big, ornate brooches right onto scarf ties and wraps this season, and that’s the easiest way in. A plain wool scarf goes from boring to styled in about two seconds.
Beanies, bag straps, the shoulder of a sweater, they all work. On a coat lapel, bigger is better, since a tiny pin just disappears on thick wool.
And if you don’t own any yet, your mom’s jewelry box is worth a look before you buy anything. Vintage shops have tons of them, usually for a lot less than new.

2. Oversized Statement Necklaces
Short and heavy is my new favorite way to do a big necklace.
A lot of the necklaces on the runways this winter sat high and close to the neck, and I’m totally into it.
I’m talking a strand of oversized dark beads, or a heavy chain that stops right at your collarbone.
Not the long, dramatic kind, the short, heavy kind that sits right there and doesn’t move.
There’s something a little 90s about it, especially with a plain crewneck and nothing else. It looks bold but still clean, like the necklace is doing all the work so nothing else has to.
Dark beads especially, not gonna lie. Chocolate or burgundy feels so much cozier than shiny metal right now.

3. Statement Earrings
Earrings might be the most practical trend on this list, which sounds kind of ridiculous for something this dramatic.
But once your scarf’s on and your hair’s up, your ears are basically the only jewelry spot anyone can still see.
Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, and Chloé all sent out huge earrings this season, and I’m into all of it, just not equally.
Chandeliers are gorgeous, I’d wear them to dinner in a heartbeat, but at 9 a.m. with a puffer coat they’re a lot.
For everyday, a big, chunky drop in gold or silver is what I’d reach for, one clean shape that goes with a sweater and jeans without looking like you planned your whole outfit around your ears.
Mismatched pairs are where people split. Some love how effortless they look, some think it looks like you lost one on the subway.
I’m firmly on the love-it side, as long as the two share a metal or a color so they still feel like they go together.
Which camp are you in?

4. Long Pendant & Relic Necklaces
In fall, it was all short charm necklaces piled over a high neck. Winter flips that, one long chain, one pendant, and that’s it.
Oversized sweaters are the coziest thing ever, but they can make your top half look twice its size, and a long pendant makes you look longer and so much less bulky, even in your thickest knit.
It’s wild how much one necklace can change the shape of an outfit.
The pendants are big enough to be the whole look, and many of them have this heirloom-y feel, like something passed down in your family.
Some come on cord instead of chain, which makes them feel more relaxed and less precious.
Length is the tricky part. Too short and it gets swallowed by the neckline, too long and it’s swinging around your waistband.
Somewhere around your sternum is the sweet spot.

5. Ear Cuffs & Chunky Hoops
Ear cuffs are having a real moment again, and they’re such an easy win.
You get that full, stacked-ear look without a single new piercing, they just slide onto the cartilage and stay put.
Hoops are still around, but the bigger, thicker ones are where it’s at. The thin little ones feel dated next to everything else.
With the statement earrings from earlier, a cuff on one ear and a big drop on the other comes off way more put together than it sounds.

6. Statement Pearl Necklaces
Chanel’s pearls this season were big and uneven, all different sizes, mixed with black and hanging a little loose around the neck. And I loved it.
It’s such a long way from the neat little strand you’d wear to a graduation.
Pearls always felt a bit too proper to me, and messing with the size and shape takes all of that right out.
You don’t need real ones for this, either.
The whole point is that they look big and a little imperfect, so faux pearls honestly work better here than a perfect, expensive strand ever would.
A long strand over a gray crewneck is all you need.

7. Mixed Metals
Still sticking to only gold or only silver?
Mixing them isn’t exactly new, but it’s showing up everywhere right now, and I think it looks especially good this time of year.
A thick silver ring with the gold chain you wear every day, plus a silver hoop, and that’s all it takes.
The mix looks more relaxed than sticking to one metal, like you grabbed what you liked instead of matching everything perfectly.
No shopping required for this one, which I’m always here for.

8. Cocktail Rings
Rings are the easiest way into colored jewelry, especially if you usually stick to plain gold or silver.
A bright green necklace is a big commitment. A green ring is just a small, fun moment on your hand, and if you change your mind halfway through the day, you slip it off. Done.
Deep colors feel the most grown-up, think emerald, garnet, amethyst, or a dark blue stone. They come across rich without being flashy, which is exactly the vibe.
Most people are wearing one big stone by itself, on the middle finger or the pinky, and I still can’t decide which one I like more.

9. Torque Chokers
This one isn’t an everyday thing, and I’m not going to pretend it is.
A torque is a rigid, open metal collar that sits right at the base of your neck.
With a turtleneck, the two just fight each other, you can barely see the choker and the sweater ends up looking crowded.
But for a holiday party? With a strapless dress or a V-neck, nothing else does what it does.
It makes your neck and shoulders look so pretty, and even the simplest black dress suddenly looks finished.
Just please don’t try to wear it with your scarf. I’ve pictured it, and it’s not great.

Winter 2027 jewelry trends turned out way bolder than I expected for a season where everything’s covered in layers, and I’m not mad about it at all.
If I could only grab one this winter, it’d be a brooch. It’s the one that surprised me the most, and it’s the easiest to try with stuff you already have.
What about you, which one are you grabbing first?
